PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
DR.VINOD SHAH
Dear Doctors,
Medical practice is at crossroad. It is a million dollar question whether we family physicians are really back bone of health care delivery system of our country or not? Let us introspect and think in detail about this issue.
Medical practice also requires cleansing in many ways. Competition, corporatization and commercialization have all seeped into our practices so insidiously that we do not realise whether we have lost the trust of our patients or the charm and glory of practice.
Words of my patients are still ringing in my ears, "you are next to God for saving my life“," Doctor your profession is a noble one" Doctor you are a friend, philosopher, and guide for us" These are gradually fading away, as we are losing our dignity in society and need to look at our practice to see where we are failing. Let the New Year bring more hope and vigour for the revival of the spirit, service and honesty in professional and personal lives.
Hippocrates once said," There are in fact two things Science and Opinion. The former begets knowledge and the later ignorance." We all have to come out of our comfort zone and to work hard to sustain our practices.
